K’we,

I’m Byron Alexander, a proud Mi’kmaq from Bay St. George and Chief of the Indian Head First Nations Band. I also serve as Interim Chief of the Federation of Newfoundland Indians.

As a candidate for Qalipu Chief, my focus is on food sovereignty, self-sufficiency, and strengthening our connection to the land. By embracing hunting, fishing, and foraging, I strive to reconnect with nature and restore balance in our lives.

Let’s work for a united future.

Wela’lin.

Stand with Byron Alexander for Real Change

  • The journey to recognition for Newfoundland's Mi’kmaq Nations began decades ago but remains incomplete. We are being left behind as billions of dollars in development take place on our traditional territories—without consultation or recognition of our rights.

  • The Time for Action is Now. Across Canada, the inherent rights of First Nations are being recognized. First Nations communities are gaining equity in major projects, career opportunities, and pathways to economic independence. But here, we are at risk of losing those opportunities.

  • We Need Transparent, Credible Leadership. Under current leadership, more Mi'kmaq have lost their status than gained it. Major projects move forward as if we don't exist. We need a leader who will stand strong for our rights and our people.

  • Byron Alexander is that Leader. With a clear vision for transparency, accountability, and balance between protecting Mother Earth and securing economic opportunities, Byron Alexander will fight for the rights of all Mi'kmaq citizens.

  • Together, We Can Affect Real Change. This election is crucial. It's not a time for apathy. Vote for Byron Alexander—someone who listens, learns, and acts with integrity for the benefit of all Mi'kmaq people, now and for future generations.

Empowering our community through strength and resilience.
