Biasing towards 60s and 70s pop rock and blues hasn't stopped John E Wright from expanding his repertoire to include such diverse artists as Alice in Chains, Etta James, Ketty Lester, Ed Sheeran and Sugababes. LF9 format open mics
Most events 7:15-10:15pm
Come and enjoy an evening of musical variety with a wide range of guitar and vocal talent at our Low-Fuss (LF9) open mic. LF9 nights are different. Emphasis is on solo acts and duos (no bands). Take the opportunity to sing and/or play 2 songs in 9 minutes Or you could read some poetry. Or try your hand at stand-up comedy for a few minutes.
Our focus: simple set-up, use our kit, maximum music time. Don't bring any amp(s) or guitar pedals or drums (kahon ok). Backing tracks? No. Jamming? No.
This gets pretty close to 'unplugged'.

Bear Hotel, Devizes - friendly staff, good food, and accomodation if you're staying in the area
The White Bear, Devizes - Georgie and Marc have created a great ambient atmosphere at this historic inn, and regularly gain great reviews for how they keep their beer
The Lamb Inn, Urchfont - Kevin and Julie, friendly and knowledgeable landlords, regularly host open mics and provide good pub food, providing large screen access for major sporting events. A little gem set outside Devizes
The Southgate, Devizes - Dave puts on live music every weekend and hosts a "jam" every Wednesday night. Full of atmosphere and reasonably priced beverages
Condado Lounge, Devizes - Condado holds lots of appeal, catering menus to all ages and regularly features live music
Churchill Arms, West Lavington - Kelly and Henry serve up a great roast dinner (and I'm not a fan of roast dinners, so that gives you some idea!). An ideal stop on the way to/from Salisbury, loads of parking, and live music being supported
The Royal Oak, Easterton - Dave and Nikki, the landlords, have already won a Restaurant Guru award and are up for Pub of the Year award. Well-supported local pub, and a treat to play there in May 2025
Castle & Ball Hotel, Marlborough Situated in the middle of the High Street, a great place to meet up, always well supported by locals. Craig, Claire, Noms and the staff strive to provide an efficient and friendly service
