Connecting Helpers With Immediate Action

List By List LA offers donors the chance to directly impact rebuilding efforts for folks and families displaced by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. By giving directly—and giving what people ask for specifically—you have the power to provide essential support to those rebuilding. Join us in making a difference, list by list.

The night of January 7, 2025, the Eaton Fire broke out in the beloved community of Altadena, California. The blaze burned more than 9,000 structures, including 6,018 single-family homes and 96 multi-family buildings.

List By List LA works directly with displaced neighbors to promote wishlists of the products needed to help them rebuild and recover. Clothing, toiletries, kitchenware, musical instruments, a favorite face cream, a beloved stuffy - if it is valued by our neighbors, it is valued by us.

Family Wishlists

Mars and Sean

Mars and Sean and their three children – 11, 9 & 5 — lost their home in the Eaton Fire. Sean is a social worker and Mars is a writer. They purchased their fixer upper home in Altadena in the summer of 2024 and had just completed renovations when the fire destroyed the house. Their children’s schools were also affected by the fire — their youngest child’s school burned down in the fire and their eldest children’s school was right in the middle of the the burn zone and was so damaged that the school closed. The family has finally secured long-term housing close to the schools’ temporary locations and are settling into their new rental house. On this list, they have included the practical items that they need for daily living as well as a few dearly missed replacements of books, music and toys to help the house feel like a home. They so appreciate your consideration and support.

Elizabeth and Adam

Elizabeth is actor, photographer, and creative spirit. Adam is a Prop Master for Motion Pictures/TV.

They lost everything in the Eaton Fire. Adam is currently rebuilding his kit (over five thousand tools and props accumulated over 20 yrs.)

They have one 15-year-old son who plays Tuba in marching band and is on the Tennis Team. He enjoys 3D printing and metal forging, and his makeshift forgery was destroyed in the fire.

I am a Grant Writer for a local non-profit, Project Angel Food

I have worked in non-profits for much of my life and am fiercely committed to helping others. I am so grateful to have the experience of being helped by others, it has strengthened my relationships and belief in community at such a divisive time."

Jocelyn

This Amazon wishlist has been created to support single mother Jocelyn and her daughter, who recently lost everything due to the Eaton fire. As they work to rebuild their lives, every item donated will make a meaningful impact, providing essential household goods, and personal care items to help them get back on their feet. Your kindness will help bring comfort and stability during this difficult time. Thank you for your generosity and support as they begin this journey of recovery and hope.

Lauren and David

Lauren and David, adult animation exec and commercial film producer respectively, along with their twin 7 year old daughters lost their home, all their belongings, and cars in the Eaton fire in Altadena. They welcomed Baby #3 in February. Thank you for any help in making their new rental livable in a short amount of time!

Melissa

Melissa is a mental health therapist who works predominantly with the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. She lived in Altadena for 15 years and, like many others, her home burnt to the ground during the Eaton Canyon Fire. Melissa worked from home as she provides telehealth, losing not only her home but workspace. She shared her whimsical home with her two dogs and two cats.

Ursula and Marcus

Ursula and Marcus lost their Altadena home and all their belongings. They left with only a few essentials. Marcus is a photographer and commercial director who sadly lost a majority of his equipment as well. They have two sweet and fun-spirited children, 2.5 and 7 years old. Their child’s school was also destroyed. Any support you can give will help them give their family some semblance of normalcy as they navigate this challenging time.

Jennifer and Scott

Jennifer is an administrator at a therapy center and Scott is a data analyst and software developer. Two kids, ages 12 and 9. Their home burned down and they lost everything.

"We are a theatre-loving family, we saw 2 shows in December and the kids had just had day one of Shrek: The Musical rehearsal for spring at school before the houses of half the cast burned down, along with our auditorium.  Very few items were saved, so we are so grateful for the support of amazing humans right now."

"As so many others did, we lost our home in the Eaton Fire. We have been lucky enough to secure a rental but now need to start the process of making it feel like home for our 2 children. This list is focused on making our new home cozy and stocking the kitchen so Josh can go back to making home cooked meals."

Christina

"Hi, my name is Christina. My kids and I sadly lost our home and belongings in the Eaton Fire. Our little urban homestead was more than just where we lived—it was where I worked. I taught traditional skills like gardening, animal care, fiber arts, herbalism, and food preservation to children. I also had an office where I supported mothers and babies as a lactation consultant. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support as we rebuild our lives and continue to serve others. Your kindness means the world to us."

Our home burned down along with all of my husbands work tools and work truck. More than 15 of my husband's clients were also residents in Altadena who have now lost their homes as well.

This wishlist includes immediate needs for our 2 children as well as replacing a few Christmas gifts they are mourning and tools for my husband's business to begin again slowly."

Casey is an editor, translator, and preschool teacher. Marc, a television editor, has been unemployed since the beginning of the writer's strike in 2023. Two kids: 5-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son. They have one dog and one cat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is List By List LA?

List by List LA connects families in the Los Angeles area who are rebuilding after the Eaton fire with generous donors who help fulfill their wishlists. These wishlists aim to provide temporary relief as families settle into long-term housing.

Why are we doing this?

In the wake of the LA Fires, there has been an immense outpouring of support. Many donors in LA have been able to give directly to local distribution hubs and community organizations. Our site was designed with non-local donors in mind. By contributing to someone's wishlist, you can give knowing you are donating something specifically needed and requested by a family, allowing that family to preserve cash for the intangible things that can't be donated, things like security deposits, rental cars, and medications (to name a few).

What types of items can be included in a wishlist?

Wishlists can include a variety of items, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, and other essentials needed for rebuilding after a fire. We encourage not only the essentials, but also items that bring joy and ease to each family member.

How do you protect the privacy of families involved?

We take privacy seriously and work to keep personal information confidential. Families can choose what information to share with donors at their own discretion, and we respect the families' right to do so.

How does the wishlist process work?

Folks displaced by the fires in Los Angeles can create a wishlist of items they need to recover and rebuild, which we then share with our network of donors. At this point anyone submitting wishlists must be cleared and vetted by our team.

Are donations tax-deductible?

No, donations are not tax-deductible. We are not a non-profit entity or charity, we are a hub designed to directly connect those who wish to help with lists of specific needs from displaced families.

Who runs List By List LA?

List By List LA is part of a larger volunteer-organized movement of mothers in the NELA (Northeast Los Angeles) community seeking to help their neighbors through direct, mutual aid. Specifically, this website is run by Rachel Vine, a film/TV writer and member of the NELA community.
