Más de 140 años de historia
Los orígenes de la Sagrada Familia se remontan al año 1882, cuando un grupo católico encarga a Francisco de Paula del Villar la construcción de un gran templo neogótico en el centro de Barcelona. Sin embargo, por desavenencias con este arquitecto, el proyecto acaba en manos de Antoni Gaudí, que pese a su juventud ya había demostrado su genialidad.
El estilo se adapta entonces a su peculiar estilo modernista, con claras influencias de su pasión por la naturaleza. Aunque Gaudí solo pudo ver completada una pequeña parte de su gran obra, ya que murió en 1926, sus muchos sucesores se mantuvieron fiel a sus diseños. Aún queda mucho por hacer, pero está previsto que las obras finalicen en el año 2033.
Antoni Gaudí
Gaudí nació en Reus (Tarragona) en 1852. Estudió arquitectura en la ETSAB de Barcelona. Su primera gran obra fue la Casa Vicens, inspirada en la arquitectura islámica. Gracias a Joan Martorell asumió el proyecto de la Sagrada Familia, a la que dedicó 43 años. También proyectó el Parque Güell, la Casa Batlló y La Pedrera. Gaudí murió el 10 de junio de 1926 en Barcelona.
