Sô Việt Stuffs
I recently went to Vietnam for the first time (which was also my first time in Southeast Asia). I went with my husband, and we visited Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Huế, Lan Ha Bay, and Hanoi. There was soooo much that I loved about our trip, from the people to the culture, and learning more about the history. And also...the food.
Heavenly Drinks

Salt Coffee
Okay, the coffee in Vietnam is out-of-control amazing. In fact, I don't even drink coffee; I'm a tea person, but I ordered coffee regularly throughout our trip because the coffee in Vietnam was some of the best I've ever had in my life. Even though the coffees we had were heavily sweetened, they did not feel overly sweet and tasted like one cohesive coffee drink.
LOVED the salt coffee we had in Huế, and it deserves to have love songs dedicated to it.

Avocado Smoothies
My friend who had been to Vietnam years ago told me we had to try their avocado smoothies, and they did not disappoint! Avocado smoothies generally consist of avocados (duh), sweetened condensed milk (yum), and ice (ah). They were simultaneously hearty and refreshing, which was especially essential in the hot temperatures of the south. In general, we noticed that a lot of restaurants in Vietnam had fresh fruit on hand to make smoothies.

Ô Mai Coffee
Have you tried Ô Mai Coffee? Okay, the coffee is really a cocktail that isn't exactly a "traditional" Vietnamese offering, but the Ô Mai Coffee from this bar are interpretative of and inspired by traditional Vietnamese dishes, and they were some of the best drinks I've ever had. I'm not generally a big drinker, but I could have thrown these cocktails back allllllll night. If you're in Hanoi and looking for a cocktail bar, definitely add this to your list!

Sapa on your bucket list? Don't dawdle.
Six hours north of Hanoi lies a gritty mountain outpost that’s become one of the most famous towns in Southeast Asia.
This town, set on a misty peak near the Chinese border, is Sapa – a base from which you can hike to a Hmong village one day and climb Vietnam’s tallest peak the next.
Sapa was established as a French hill station a century ago, but travelers expecting a quiet mountain getaway might be disappointed. Today, the town is crammed with dusty construction sites, blaring karaoke bars and honking tourist vans.
But don’t let this put you off. Sapa is much more than the town that bears its name. The sweeping valley is laced with waterfalls and rice terraces, it’s the staging point for adrenaline-pumping hiking and motorbiking expeditions, and it’s home to a rich tapestry of cultures.
Read on to discover what you need to plan a rewarding and memorable first trip to Sapa.
