The Highland Woods Project

Ed Aucoin
Ed spent his adult life working in the hi-tech industry, but the 14 years spent at Bose really piqued Edโs interest in music, live performances, and performing.ย Ed has always loved music perhaps because his dad was a local celebrity / musician / vocalist who was deeply into country music.ย Rather late in life, Ed decided that he wanted to learn to play guitar and later began performing at a local assisted living center where his mother-in-law was a resident.ย As a happy coincidence, Kris learned what Ed was doing and joined with him as a duo and they started to perform together.ย Paul Fidlin was a final fortuitous add who brought his guitar skills and melodic voice to the mix, and The Highland Woods Project was born.

Paul Fidlin
Paul Fidlin spent his entire working career in the Professional Audio Industry.ย He worked as a Loudspeaker Engineer for Celestion (Ipswich, England), Chief Engineer โ Loudspeakers for Electro-Voice (Buchanan, Michigan) and Director of Engineering for Bose Professional.ย Paul studied classical guitar from age 8-14 and then joined a Top 40/Wedding/Club Band at the age of 15 during his High School years.ย This band, Alco, wrote, performed and recorded an album called โThreads of Lifeโ during their 6th Form College years before departing for University.ย Through the years Paul continued to play Guitar, Bass & Keyboards for various Top 40, Country & Hard Rock bands when time permitted.ย Paul is delighted to be playing with his ex-Bose colleagues, Ed & Kris in a Trio that allows him to exercise his Acoustic Guitar and Harmonizing skills.

Kris Swanson
Kris grew up in a musical home and sang in choruses and played a variety of instruments in high school. He enjoyed playing bass guitar in a jazz band and later picked up electric guitar which inevitably led to a short stint in his high school garage band. For the next forty years Kris was fully occupied by his work in various hi-tech positions. Happily, he spent his last 15 years at Bose Corporation, where he met and worked with Ed and Paul. Once retiring, Kris immediately started recovering his dormant guitar skills and met up with Ed to play for fun. Later they began playing at assisted living homes as a way to give back. More recently, Paul retired and joined with Ed and Kris, as a trio, and we are now The Highland Woods Project!
