Una galaxia es un conjunto de <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrella">estrellas</a>, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nube_molecular">nubes de gas</a>, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planeta">planetas</a>, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polvo_c%C3%B3smico">polvo cósmico</a>, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materia_oscura">materia oscura</a> y <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energ%C3%ADa">energía</a> unidas gravitatoriamente en una estructura más o menos definida. La cantidad de estrellas que forman una galaxia es enorme y varía desde las <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxia_enana">galaxias enanas</a>, con 107, hasta las galaxias gigantes, con 1014 estrellas; siendo el valor medio estimado de 1011 estrellas. Formando parte de una galaxia existen subestructuras como las <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebulosa">nebulosas</a>, los <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%BAmulo_estelar">cúmulos estelares</a> y los <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="mw-redirect" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema_Estelar">sistemas estelares múltiples</a>.

Galaxias

Una nebulosa es una región del <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medio_interestelar">medio interestelar</a> constituida por <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas">gases</a>, principalmente <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidr%C3%B3geno">hidrógeno</a> y <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helio">helio</a>, además de <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elemento_qu%C3%ADmico">elementos químicos</a> en forma de <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polvo_c%C3%B3smico">polvo cósmico</a>. Tienen una importancia cosmológica notable porque muchas de ellas son los lugares donde nacen las <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrella">estrellas</a> por fenómenos de <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condensaci%C3%B3n_(cambio_de_estado)">condensación</a> y agregación de la <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materia">materia</a>; en otras ocasiones se trata de restos de estrellas ya extintas o en extinción.

We spent the evening ski-touring up to a small mountain chalet to have dinner there, only to ski down late at night, with the stars above us. I couldn’t let the opportunity to capture the Matterhorn at night, so I took along my gear and gave astrophotography my first shot.

It was around 2 am when the milky way was right on the spot where i wanted it to be. headed out into the forest with a headlamp and camera. I hanged my hammock and waited.

The Soul Nebula...these photons traveled 7500 years until they reached the telescope and finally the camera sensor placed in my tiny backyard.

The setting was new year’s eve of 2017. While everybody was preparing to shoot fireworks, some still eating and drinking, some playing card games, your boy was out trying to figure out the optimal settings for his astrophotography. I failed it miserably, but something did come out of it.

Spent the whole night in absolute silence at lost lake in the Uinta mountains watching the milky way roll across the horizon. This was taken just after the sun had gone down and the sky was still slightly blue.
