Biography
Bob Young is a Canadian painter in Southern Ontario who captures the urban and natural landscape, in a loose impressionistic style. With subject matter from overhead power lines to natural Ontario landscapes, he uses oil paint for its slow drying time, pleasant smell, and ability to hold crisp brushstrokes.
Young was born in Guelph in 1960. He did a BFA degree (Visual Arts – Studio) at York University, Toronto. After then getting a Bachelor of Architecture at UBC, Vancouver, he worked in that field for five years. Subsequently he worked in urban planning and web design, before returning to painting. In 2017, Young donated a portion of exhibition sales to the Grand River Conservation Authority in Southwestern Ontario. He is based in Kingston, Ontario.
