Efficient collection and disposal of trash maintains cleanliness and environmental responsibility. We work together with the community and our partners to manage the basura area in Chan Chemuyil, and to provide the folks in the neighborhood with the information they need to properly recycle what they can.
Glass - not recyclable from CC, place in the garbage
Aluminum - goes in the dedicated bin
Cardboard and other non-food waste - in the unlidded garbage bins
Food waste - in the lidded bins. Keep the lids CLOSED please
RECYCLING is held the last Friday of every month in Chemuyil, Akumal and other locations. Some more information from the Centro Communitario in Chemuyil.
Ensuring the street and topes are well maintained, including the section of Mexicana at the entrance to CC streets. Tope painting, vegetation removal and trimming, minor pothole repairs help keep the streets useable.
Major street repairs, including lighting, are outside of the HMG mandate - our involvement is in reporting issues and following up with the delegado in Chemuyil for their resolution.
Timely trimming of vegetation and upkeep of shared facilities and areas to preserve their quality and usability. Includes the fencing and grassy areas around two cenotes, the fencing and grassy area of the vacant lot, the shelving, lighting, books, games and puzzles in the library, the areas around the basura walls and bodega, and more.
Sometimes we paint over graffiti, repaint the policia caseta, and other common area initiatives that are not regular maintenance, and we take them on with enthusiasm!

We have a lending library that has books, puzzles, games and more, at the bottom of calle Belize next to the water treatment post.
Keys are in the lockbox on the wall, code is the last 4 digits of our postal code. Residents may borrow or keep books for beach days, the journey home, bedtime reading...
We take donations and ask that you kindly leave ONLY books and puzzles in excellent useable condition. No torn covers, moldy pages or missing pieces please! :)
Want to start a committee for something beyond routine maintenance? Many important initiatives are beyond the HMS mandate - reach out to your neighbors and just do it.
An active and engaged community is good for all.
