The main purpose of this website is to provide information for prospective members interested in joining the band.
Like all community bands, we are always keen to welcome new players, particularly those who play specialised instruments, thus ensuring the band continues to thrive since long-standing members inevitively retire over time.
CONCORD COMMUNITY WIND BAND – Summer Season
The main feature of our summer setup is that it will be an “open season. That is to say that visitors will be welcome to drop in to any or all of our rehearsals and to listen or play, and generally see what we are about.
For the period, there will be several changes to our usual rehearsal routine. The chief of these will be an exploration of the band library, most of which will be new to the present membership. This will be a contrast to our present practice of rehearsing for particular events. Members and visitors will be able to suggest pieces which we could if available, play. One of the purposes of this exercise is broaden the band’s musical experience.
Besides the performance part of the evening there is also a plan to include some mini-tutorials deigned to help the less experienced players. Subjects might include good intonation, accurate timing, clear articulation etc.
Another important change will be the installation on an “in-house” arranger, Chris H. who has volunteered for this post will be presenting to the band pieces which will particularly suit the band and its . He will also modify existing parts where necessary; e.g. he will simplify parts that are to difficult for some less experienced players.
Lastly, away from the music making, there are plans to organise some social gathering which band members and their families and friends, as well as prospective members might attend.

WHO WE ARE
We are a fast-growing adult wind band based in Fishponds, Bristol, UK. Our friendly organising team welcomes players of all abilities—from near beginners to seasoned musicians—with extra support available for those learning or returning to playing.
WHAT WE PLAY
The conductor selects the music we perform primarily to support our growth and development as musicians, giving us opportunities to build our skills and confidence. At the same time, ensuring the pieces are enjoyable for the audience, thus making our performances both engaging and entertaining.
WHERE WE PLAY
The band regularly (but not too often!) plays for the general public at local events as well as at care homes, dining clubs etc.
Besides fulfilling our commitment to the community these appearances give the members valuable performance experience.

The band rehearses at The Beechwood Club, Beechwood Road, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 3TP, UK.
We meet every Friday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, all year round.
