Bud's obituary was not published online.

Christie's father Bud was a Vietnam Veteran. Danny was also a veteran. Christie's respect and affection for those who serve our military likely originated from this. Her mother also was briefly in the Navy. She was so proud of her fathers' military service.

Life is so short, all we are is dust in the wind.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck that which is planted.”

Ecclesiastes 3:20

“All go to one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”

Ecclesiastes 12:7

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

John 11:25-26

Jesus speaking to Martha whose brother had died

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.  Believest thou this?”

Christie Ann Ratelle, a resident of Stone Mountain, GA, age 55, died unexpectedly on August 13, 2025.

Christie was born in Atlanta, GA at Crawford Long Hospital.

Christie attended Grady High School and graduated from Decatur High School. Through perseverance Christie completed her Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia State University while working full-time as an executive assistant to senior executives in the construction and real estate sectors; including Hines, McGraw Hill Construction. Christie later worked breifly at GMS, for Dywidag Systems until their Atlanta offices were closed in the fall of 2020 related to the pandemic and briefly with Vitek in 2024.

Christie’s mother Regina Ratelle and Roy “Bud” Diebler predeceased her.  Christie is survived by her son, Deante Tate, her biological father, Danny Chastain, who she connected with later in life and her husband David Ogle.

Christie held a strong love for Bud's daughter Kelly Odom and bud's sister Martha Bennett and Kathy Deibler. Christie was also appreciative of Kelly's mother Sue supporting her in connecting with Bud. She was so happy for Kelly and her famiy and so valued Martha's and Kathy's continued connection. She also had a strong love for her brother Judd who had tried to contact her when she was a teenager and still living with her grandparents in Ben Hill subarb. She also loved Judd's wife Kim and their children and grandchildren. Brittany and her son Jason always had a special place in heart. She nicknamed him 'nugget', a picture of the two of them is the banner on her Facebook page. Christie loved Brandon's wife and their twins. She was so happy to have new opportunities to connect with family. Adam, Lisa, all you guys - know that she loved you all. She treasured communicating with Danny and having his support.

Christie loved Deante's grandparents and had a deep appreciation for how they had helped her when she was younger and how gracious and kind they continued to be to Deante.

Christe never stopped loving all of her family and was motivated by better knowing who she was so she better knew who else she could share her love with. She enjoyed seeing new posts on Facebook and loved seeing pictures and hearing news of both of of her families flourishing and thriving.

Having family meant the world to Christie. Knowing you were happy gave her joy. Christie had an exchange with a family member in July 2015 where she said "Family means everything to me." and there is nothing to add to that. Christie viewed all of you as her family, and she deeply wanted an equal loving relationship with all of you. Christie just wanted to love you all and be loved in return - Isn't that what life is really all about?

Christie loved God, the USA, our military veterans, her family, and babies.  Like her mother Gina, Christie also cherished her pet dogs that love unconditionally.

A special thank you to Jeff, Paris and Karina for giving Christie a beautiful Chihuahua female puppy, that Christie loved so dearly. Paris named her Zoey, and she gave Christie such comfort and joy. Zoey was experiencing liver failure and very ill for the last three years of her life. Christie prayed that God would give her 'Zoey baby' two years. God gave Christie three and a half years with Zoey who she cared for like Zoey was an infant. Joey died on Sunday, June 29th while Christie was out running an errand. Zoey's passing was particularly difficult for Christie as she had provided comfort to Christie while her mother was hospitalized and after her mother died in 2021. She so loved that little girl Chihuahua and was so grateful for her. And Karina, you have no idea how much Christie appreciated you attending her graduation from GSU, it was really kind of you do that, and she she really appreciated it.

Christie also enjoyed her select friendships and getting to socialize with friends. She loved you all, former co-workers, former classmates, spring and fall vacationing friends, tolerating the chaos of local conventions to spend time with friends and make new ones. Christie especially enjoyed spending time with John and Kathy, who were always so kind to Christie; with David and Julie who she always looked forward to visiting and she really enjoyed meeting Royce and Carol and visiting with them. Kurt and Fran, she loved you guys and enjoyed watching your treks from afar and your sons growing up. She was so proud of both of you.

Christie enjoyed live music, shout outs to Hot Rod Walt and the Psychodevilles and Southern Culture on the Skids for staying true to what you love.
