I'm an author and historian with a passion for exploring and communicating about the past.

My book, Understanding Collapse, explored how ancient societies end, while, Women in the Ancient Mediterranean World, reconstructed the lives of 30 real women from prehistory to the Byzantines.

I've written for Aeon, The Conversation, magazines including Ancient History and Ancient Warfare. and appeared on BBC Civilisations and Tides of History.

Currently I'm working on trade books for John Murray and Reaktion.
