The Pathways programme we follow helps members learn models for structuring and writing compelling speeches tailored to your audience and purpose.

Formal Speaking: Members use the successful Toastmasters International Pathways Programme. It improves confidence in your delivery of speeches. You receive both audience and evaluator feedback. Relax! It's all very positive. Each Pathway is tailored to a particular speaking need so you apply yourself very quickly. Impromptu Speaking: We all dread that moment when we are, "asked" to say a few words! We learn that too - so when you are asked, it's like having learnt to swim - you just do it.

It's amazing how many people come along and are nervous. We transform nerves into leadership. Club meeting involve a variety of roles and each role requires members to lead in an area. It's very useful life experience. How often do you go into a meeting and a critical person is not present? Someone has to lead. Everyone looks down! Our meetings prepare members for these situations so nerves are turned into leadership and confidence and you just do it. When you do - you feel better and it improves your standing within a group

Most members of Hull Speakers are content to become proficient and confident speakers and leaders. But what if you want to go further to be a professional speaker? Toastmasters is a collection of over 16,000 global clubs. It organises competitions. For us, it is against other Yorkshire clubs, then regions, national and international. Hull has had success in these competitions.
