The Kind Of Stories You Can't Read Any Where Else

As a fan of Cult Humor fiction, I got tired of wasting my time on story after story, book after book, looking for that next great read and never finding it. That being the case, I decided do something about this void - not only in my life, but the literary world at large: I wrote my own stories, the kind I wanted to read but couldn't because they simply weren't out there.

And now they are.

The thing is, you just might happen to have the same taste in stories as I do, and if that's the case, then you have indeed come to the right place. And since you have found yourself here - however it is you got here - you might as well take a few minutes to see what it is I have to offer you. I can assure you, there are worse ways to spend your time. But on the other hand, in terms of pure reading pleasure, this may be one of the best things you've done.

Why not find out?

Stories That Speak For Themselves

Prepare yourself for the absurd, the unusual, the irreverent, and always - always - the incredible.

I could sit here and bore you with all kinds of praise for the stories I have written, but that would simply sound like all the millions of other writers desperate to have someone read and enjoy the art they have worked so hard on, have put so much effort into, to give to the world to enjoy. Like these people, I , too, would like the entire world to fall in love with the stories I have written. I mean, what writer wouldn't, right? Especially when you spend so many years crafting every word of every sentence, of every paragraph, of every page. It's only natural to feel that way.

But I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to bore you with anything. These stories speak for themselves. They are, in fact, their own best salesman and promoter. You need only give them a moment of your time, and they will do the rest.

And isn't that what writing is all about?

As the author, I will say this one thing on my stories' behalf, and that is, that over the past six years I have been working on them, there has seldom been a case where a reader (and many people have read them) only read a given story once.

And really, that says it all.

It's not the story, it's the writing

And this is how I do what it is I do, the philosophy by which I write.

There are all types of writers and writing styles, but at the end of the day, there is but one question: did the reader enjoy the story?

And aside from that, nothing else matters.

In my world, writing is composed of two things: a story, and the writing that tells it. What I find to be true in the world of fiction is this: you can have an incredible story that may or may not survive its mediocre or even poor writing. It all depends. But on the other hand, you can have a truly gifted writer who can pretty much write about anything, even a phone book, and you will be riveted to every word of his story.

The latter has been my goal in life ever since I began writing some six years ago. How close I've come to reaching this goal is something only you, the reader, can decide. And that's easy enough to do. Simply click on one of the story links in the samples section above and find out for yourself.

My name is Richard Miller, and I live in the deep south. Very deep. Born and raised here. I primarily write Cult Humor fiction, my personal favorite, but I also write in other genres as well, including romance, drama, and horror. The Cult Humor stories are, for the most part, deliberate. But the other genre stories all happened quite by accident. Either way, every one of my stories comes into existence in pretty much the same manner - they pop into my head, and I write them down. And I have to tell you, not one time has any of them ever ended up being what I initially envisioned it as. Not even once. I start typing them, and these things simply take on a life of their own. They basically go wherever they damn well please. Now, whether this somewhat unorthodox method of writing works or not, again, you be the judge.

I'd like to personally thank you for visiting my site and sincerely hope that you enjoy the stories (or excerpts, rather), and, if not the stories themselves, then at least the writing.

If you read an excerpt and enjoy it to the point you would like to read the entire story, you need only let me know by using the Contact section below. Also, any feedback you can offer me will always be greatly appreciated. It is, after all, a writer's best tool.

Once again, thank you for stopping by.
