Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) enhances disease aggressiveness and the metastatic potential of pancreatic cancer cells by inducing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). 	A Black male scientist is instructing a Black female high school student in the procedure of "southern blotting". Single strands of DNA are transferred onto a nitrocellulose filter, exposed to a radioactive labelled probe, which then sticks, or hybridizes, to a specific DNA sequence. These hybridized sequences will then give off a radioactive signal that can be visualized by exposing the filter to x-ray film, a procedure known as autoradiography.

DNA Fragmentation. A dye marker on agarose gel used to separate DNA by a female scientist. The smaller fragments move faster, the larger ones move slower. This separation process is used to analyyze the size of DNA fragments, to map DNA, to separate fragments of DNA to create clones.
