I'm Maria Antonella Boccotti, the artist behind La Regina MAB.

I create fantasy book covers, interior illustrations, characters and creatures for publishers, authors and imaginative projects, with a particular passion for costume-driven character design.

My work combines fantasy, storytelling and my background in fashion to create evocative characters and worlds with their own visual identity.

About

I'm Maria Antonella Boccotti, an Italian fantasy illustrator and character designer working under the name La Regina MAB.

Before becoming an illustrator, I trained in fashion design and created my own collections of evening wear. That background still plays an important role in the way I approach fantasy characters today: through silhouette, costume, materials, ornament and the visual language of clothing.

My work focuses on fantasy publishing, characters, creatures and imaginative worlds, combining illustration and storytelling with a particular attention to costume and character identity.

I collaborate with publishers, authors and independent creators, and I'm available for international and remote projects.

Selected Projects & Experience

My professional and independent work includes fantasy creature illustration for Drakonia – Tomo 5 and Libro Mostri di Krabat, published by Gamers Hunter Edizioni, as well as commissioned artwork for publishing and cultural projects.

Alongside commissioned work, I develop independent fantasy projects, including an illustrated card deck and a fantasy artbook.
