study methods guide

want to get good grades, but have no idea how? or you have an exam tomorrow and haven't even touched your notes? I've got you!! this guide is divided in section based off your timeframe!! test in a week/regular study methods: pomodoro technique super simple method!! for regular studying, or a test in a little bit!! step one: select a single subject/section to focus on step two: set timer for 25 minutes, and work the entire time step three: take a 5 minute break (set a timer so it's only 5 minutes) step four: repeat four times step five: take a break for 30 minutes step six: repeat entire process until you have the results needed!! blurting can be used anytime in prep for a test, but I've found works best a 4-5 days before a test!! step one: read over your notes/chapters step two: write everything you can remember on a white board or a piece of paper step three: go back through your notes to see what you missed, and add those (in a different color) to your whiteboard/paper step four: repeat again for the same notes/chapter and/or for a different section!! tip: try blurting every other day!! it works really well, especially in studying for history!! flashcards very old school, but it works!! use for a week before the test so you can see what you need to study more on!! step one: make flashcards with index cards (you can also use quizlet, but physical cards work much better for memorization!!) step two: go through the flashcards, and put the ones you got right to the left, put ones you got right but had a bit more trouble to the middle, and ones you got wrong to the right step three: repeat until all cards are to the left teacher method remember when you played pretend school with your siblings and cousins? this is just that but you're actually learning!! step one: review your notes quickly, like under three minutes!! step two: start teaching it to your stuffed animals or film a video like you're facetiming someone step three: after you're done, go back to your notes and see what you missed step four: repeat until you can do it without missing anything pressure walking sometimes even if you a timed practice quiz or questions, you can't really get the real test pressure!! this is a great way to practice the mindset you'll be in!! step one: start walking around your room!! pretty easy, right? step two: start reciting everything for a specific topic step three: repeat!! either the same topic or a different one!! this will make your brain focus on walking and remembering everything!! you might find it a bit harder! this doesn't work for everyone, though!! beginning of the semester/long term study methods unit course technique (four weeks) start at the beginning of a unit, this technique's base is four weeks for a unit but it can be condensed or expanded week one: build the base of your studying!! start organizing your notes, start making your first flashcards, make a list of things you struggle on (my tip for this is to keep post-it's on you and make one every time you think you struggle on a topic)!! week two: do your flashcards and review notes from last week, go over all of your weakest spots, and most importantly space out your learning!! this doesn't mean just skipping days, it's planned! week three: practice questions (timed), also start to do timed practice tests* week four: go over flash cards, go over all of your weak topics, do not cram!! this week is much easier, you don't need to do all-nighters because you've already done a bunch of studying!! *ask your teacher if they can give you a practice test or practice questions, review sheets work too!! if not, either ask a friend to make problems (just give them another problem and they can most likely make more with numbers/etc swapped)!! you can also use old questions from older assignments!!
