We grow our plants from bulbs, rhizomes, seeds, and propagation here in Miller Backyard Nursery, and nurture them until ready for their new homes! We even have plants for apartment terraces, bringing nature to you in whatever space you have! Plants may vary due to availability, but may include dahlias, Dutch clover in pots, castor bean plants, vinca, lamb's ear, rudbeckia, echinacea, Autumn Clematis, and more.

We use the American Horticultural Society Plant Heat Zone map which shows the number of Heat Days over 86 degrees, which increases every year.
By growing plants locally, we ensure that the plants are suitable for our metro Atlanta environment.

We provide detailed care instructions with each plant purchase, including watering, sunlight, soil, and fertilization guidelines tailored to each plant type.
It's important to know your yard. Where is the sun during the course of the day? What areas get rain soaked? What trees are there for shade? What type of soil do you have? Is the garden at an old house or a brand new house?
Knowing your landscape before buying plants will help you have a great garden with thriving plants. Plants need to go where they want to go, not where we want them to go, in order for them to succeed.
HYDRANGEAS need special attention in Georgia due to our more direct sun (we're closer to the equator), additional heat days, and humidity. Plant tags are basically generic and can't be counted on to be accurate. Full Sun in Georgia is not the same as full sun in Minnesota, Seattle, or Maine. All hydrangeas here in Georgia need afternoon shade, yes, even Panicle hydrangeas, many known as Limelight hydrangeas. The Proven Winners website even states that Panicles in hot climates need afternoon Shade despite the tag saying Full Sun. All hydrangeas in Georgia need shade from the intense heat and sun of the afternoon.
Special mention to the USDA COLD Hardiness Zone Map: While this map is helpful to know if a plant can withstand freezing temperatures, it does not help in knowing whether a plant can withstand many multiple days of SUN and HEAT. The USDA Cold map shows hot Atlanta and cool Seattle in the same 8a zone, yet they are worlds apart for heat.

All Sales Are Final, as we do not know what happens to the plants after they are purchased. We are not a Big Box operation.
Miller Backyard Nursery is located in Cobb County, Georgia. We will have regular sales in Spring at nearby locations to Acworth, and by Appointment Only at the nursery. Our nursery is not open to the public to drop in.
Sales announcements will be on our website here, and on Facebook and Google. Private sales will be made through Facebook Marketplace as possible.

Currently, we focus on plant propagation and sales. However, we do offer planting guidance and coaching for what plants would work in your home garden based on daylight, shade, watering and soil requirements. We offer home visits within a 30 minute drive radius from Acworth, GA, and virtually through FaceTime outside the travel area.
We will listen to your suggestions, but we can't guarantee that we can carry specific plants. We are a very small nursery and can only carry what space, time, and resources allow. Thank you for understanding.
