I studied physics at UBC, then worked as a photonics and cryogenics technician at the Quantum Matter Institute. It was interesting work, but TA'ing PHYS159 and tutoring high school physics kept pulling at me more than the lab did. Eventually I quit to become a teacher, and I'm now a student teacher in SFU's PDP program.

The greatest minds were wrong before they were right.

I think students today are too afraid of being wrong. Answers are everywhere now, which makes mistakes feel bigger than they should. My classroom runs on the opposite idea: sitting with uncertainty is uncomfortable, but it's where the real learning happens. Every day's different, and I like it that way.
