Mount Kenya University Wildlife Club (MKUWC)

Join Mount Kenya University Wildlife Club – Thika Campus, a vibrant community of students dedicated to wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability.

Membership is open to all Mount Kenya University students passionate about environmental conservation. To join, simply register with the club, pay a one-time fee of Ksh. 150/= and renew each semester with Ksh. 50/=.

Members are expected to take part in activities while embracing the values of conservation, teamwork, and community service.

1. Advocacy and Policy Engagement

Advocating for stronger environmental policies and collaborating with stakeholders to promote sustainable conservation laws.

2. Nature Walks & Field Excursions

Organized visits to national parks, reserves, and conservation sites help members connect with nature and gain first-hand conservation knowledge.

3. Tree Planting & Forest Restoration

Collaborating with local partners to restore natural habitats and promote biodiversity.

4. Community Clean-Up Drives

Organizing regular clean-up activities to keep natural areas free from pollution and protect local ecosystems.

5. Community Service & CSR Projects

We partner with local communities to implement CSR activities as a way of giving back to society.

Gideon Wafula is the founder of Mount Kenya University Wildlife Club and served as Chairperson from 2023 to 2025. With a background in Journalism and Mass Communication, he is deeply passionate about wildlife conservation, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.

Moses Chome Tembo

Chairperson - MKU Wildlife Club 2025-2026

Moses Tembo is the current Chairperson, skilled in environmental advocacy and experienced in organizing awareness campaigns and educational workshops.

Mr. William Luta, the University Sports Coordinator and Patron of the Mount Kenya University Wildlife Club, has been an inspiring mentor whose guidance and commitment to conservation have shaped the club’s growth and empowered students to lead in environmental stewardship.

Brian Kaiser served as Organizing Secretary of the MKU Wildlife Club in 2023/2025. He coordinated events, mobilized members, and helped drive tree planting, clean-ups, and awareness campaigns that strengthened the club’s impact.

Our Passion and Purpose

Mount Kenya University Wildlife Club, based in Thika along General Kago Street, is a dynamic community of students united by their passion for wildlife conservation, climate action, and environmental sustainability.

Established in July 2023 as part of the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya (WCK) network, our club connects young conservationists nationwide, fostering a collaborative spirit dedicated to protecting nature and promoting responsible environmental stewardship.

Our motto, "Inspiring Conservation one step at a time," reflects our commitment to making a meaningful impact through education, advocacy, and hands-on initiatives.
