Free network utilities designed to help you monitor.The utilities require the installation of <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://npcap.com">NPCAP libraries</a>. NPCAP is also used by the industry standard network analysis software Wireshark and NMap.

Free Network Tools for IT Engineers

This all started off as a C++ and Npcap learning project (I’m an IT Engineer) so I thought I could turn the software utilities into something that other IT Engineers might find useful. All tools require the installation of Npcap which the excellent Wireshark and NMap tools use. MyDNSMon listens for DNS queries and responses and displays information on screen and can write to text file. MyDNSMon shows every detail of the DNS packet with every response for each query and you can specify the level of detail to view, depending on your requirements. Basic source, destination, query and response fields can be written to a CSV file.

LLDP-CDPMon listens for LLDP and CDP packets over ethernet connections and displays the information advertised by the network device, for example the device name and switch port. Having this information avoids manually tracing cables through to cabinet, patch panels and to switch ports, saving a lot of time and manual effort.
