We were in Paris walking into the Latin Quarter when we stumbled upon an old bookstore. There was a sign stating no pictures, but naturally something this beautiful had to be captured without disturbing anyone around. The old books lined the walls and shelves in a maze that led to the second floor, where this was found at the top of the stairs. Reading these notes felt like seeing fragments of people stuck in time, their thoughts, ideas, and identities frozen here for all to read.

In the front of a bookstore, there are various books that do propaganda for the CCP. Such as 中国共产党一路走来的故事(about CCP's glorious history), 共产党员在抗疫一线(about CCP's contribution to fight against covid 19), 大变局下的中国角色(about CCP's ambition to reshape the world order), 一带一路与西部大开发(about The Belt and Road Initiative). Interestingly, in this area full of books with red covers, Edward Snowden's Permanent Record is also placed here(Of course, an abridged version).

I love books and bookshops and this was a beauty!  You could just lose track of time and place and just wish that you could absorb somehow even just 1% of the subject matter to hand.  Most of the books were second hand.  I’m not quite sure why I even had my camera to hand that day but I’m glad I did…
