Frequently Asked Questions
Can I receive updates or photos of my cat during boarding or drop-in visits?
Absolutely! We provide regular updates and photos to keep you connected and reassured about your cat’s well-being.
How do you ensure the safety and comfort of my cat during boarding?
Our home is cat-proofed and designed for maximum comfort. We provide individual attention, regular feeding, playtime, and a calm atmosphere to keep your cat happy and safe. We also have enough space and rooms to separate cats if they are anxious.
Do you require a meet-and-greet before boarding or drop-in visits?
Yes, if you request, we can conduct a meet-and-greet to get to know your cat, understand their needs, and ensure a comfortable experience for them. This is also a great opportunity for you to have a look & feel of Pumpkin's House.
How do I make a reservation for boarding or drop-in visits?
Reservations can be made by contacting us via email or through our website’s booking form. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred dates.
How often do you conduct drop-in visits? Do you have location preference?
It depends on the requests. Typically, it's once per day or every other day.
Yes, I would prefer the drop-in visits within Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, and Markham. There will be additional fees if it's too far away. The fee for drop-in visits will also depend on how far the distance from where I live.
Can you take care of cats with medical conditions?
Unfortunately, I'm not a professional vet who has prior experience in taking care of cats that have medical conditions. So, I would prefer accepting healthy cats, spayed or neutered, and know how to use a litter box. Or only need minor medical care.
For the safety of all our feline guests, we also require that all cats be up-to-date on their vaccinations, including rabies and feline distemper.

About Me

Nancy
Hi there! I'm Nancy, your CCO (Chief Cat Officer) behind the scenes.
About Me
Thank you for reading maybe the longest "About Me" Section.
My relationship with cats began in my mid-twenties, when I was learning to be alone.
Back then, I wanted a cat because I needed companionship. Life felt busy, relationships felt uncertain, and I was looking for comfort in the quiet moments at home. But as life changed, so did my understanding of what it really means to care for an animal.
Years later, after moving back to Toronto, building a life of my own, settling into my own home, creating a career and community I felt proud of — I realized I was finally ready again. This time, not because I needed a cat to fill an emotional space, but because I knew I had the time, stability, patience, and love to properly care for one.
During the pandemic, I became a foster with a local shelter, helping care for cats with different personalities, histories, and needs. My home became a temporary stop for many of them — a quiet place to decompress, heal, and slowly learn to trust again.
And somewhere in that process, I met my own little angel: Pumpkin.
Truthfully, during those pandemic years, it often felt less like Pumpkin needed me and more like I needed him. We grew alongside each other through some of the most transformative years of my life. He watched me change jobs, move into bigger homes, rediscover joy, rebuild confidence, and slowly fall back in love with life again.
Over time, Pumpkin became far more than a pet. He became my closest companion, my emotional support, and one of the most grounding presences in my life.
That experience changed the way I think about pet care entirely.
Animals are deeply sensitive to energy, routine, patience, and environment. They’re not simply pets to “watch over” — they’re family members with personalities, boundaries, emotions, and trust that deserve to be respected.
That’s the kind of care I hope to provide through this space: gentle, attentive, home-based care that helps pets feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for while their humans are away.
Now, I hope to pass that same sense of care and responsibility on to people who love their cats as deeply as I do.
Maybe we’re all in different stages of life. Maybe our cats came into our lives for different reasons, and play different roles in our stories. But I believe the love we have for them is universal.
Thank you for allowing me to care for such an important part of your family while you’re away.
And thank you to the cats, too — for the quiet, beautiful way they connect all of us.
