Why the Red Tulip?

About Our Mission
At the National Parkinson’s Institute, our mission is to improve quality of life for individuals and families living with Parkinson’s disease by providing free, evidence-based exercise, education, and support programs while building a community rooted in hope, empowerment, and connection.
At the National Parkinson’s Institute, we provide free, evidence-based wellness programs designed to help individuals maintain strength, mobility, independence, and connection. From Rock Steady Boxing and Parkinson’s-specific dance classes to Brain Game, pickleball, educational seminars, support groups, and community-building initiatives, our programs are rooted in the belief that movement, knowledge, and community are powerful forms of medicine.
Each week, individuals walk through our doors not just for exercise, but for encouragement, understanding, and the reassurance that they are not facing Parkinson’s alone. We are committed to removing barriers to access so that every person—regardless of financial circumstances.
Why the Red Tulip?
The Red Tulip is the international symbol of Parkinson’s awareness—a symbol of strength, resilience, and hope. It represents the millions of individuals and families navigating this disease and serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, growth, beauty, and progress are possible. Through the Red Tulip Gala Experience, we honor those living with Parkinson’s, elevate their stories, and unite our community around a shared commitment to improving quality of life and advancing care.
The Red Tulip Gala Experience brings our community together to sustain and expand these life-changing programs. Every ticket purchased, every sponsorship secured, and every story shared directly supports the individuals and families who walk through our doors each week seeking hope, support, and the tools to live well with Parkinson’s. Together, we are ensuring these vital resources remain accessible today while building toward a permanent, state-of-the-art home for Parkinson’s care, connection, and innovation.
