I support each student's musical growth both inside and outside the lesson room, helping them build skills, confidence, and meaningful experiences throughout their musical journey.Annual Student PerformanceEach summer, students are invited to participate in an end-of-year student recital, where families can come together to celebrate their children's progress and accomplishments. Performing gives students a meaningful goal to work toward and an opportunity to share their music with others.K–12 Music Pathway PlanningAs a Massachusetts public school music teacher, I understand how music programs work within the K–12 school system and can help families navigate their child's broader music education journey. I provide guidance on instrument selection, school band, orchestra, and choir opportunities, and planning meaningful musical experiences throughout elementary, middle, and high school. For students interested in pursuing music more seriously, I can also help them build a strong music-related portfolio and résumé and make informed choices about future musical and academic opportunities.Exams, Competitions &amp; Performance OpportunitiesStudents preparing for ABRSM, RCM, competitions, auditions, or other performances receive individualized support in repertoire selection, preparation, technique, and performance skills. I can also help students identify appropriate performance opportunities and continue developing as confident, well-rounded musicians.

Dr. Siyu Tian is a music educator, pianist, and private piano teacher based in Wayland, Massachusetts. She holds a PhD in Music Education from the University of Alabama, as well as a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado.With experience teaching music in U.S. public schools, higher education, and private piano settings, Siyu brings both a strong educational background and practical teaching experience to her students. She has taught students across different ages and learning levels, from young children to adults, and has experience working with students with diverse musical backgrounds and learning needs.As an educator, Siyu believes that every student has their own musical strengths, interests, and goals. Her lessons combine piano technique, music theory, musicianship, listening, and musical expression, helping students develop not only as pianists but as confident and independent musicians.Siyu is also a professional pianist with experience in solo performance, collaboration, and accompaniment. Her background as both a performer and educator allows her to bring a well-rounded perspective to every lesson.
