Pages in Motion is the National Parkinson's Institute's newest creative writing program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson's disease. Through guided prompts, storytelling, journaling, poetry, and personal reflection, participants are invited to explore their creativity, preserve meaningful memories, and connect with others in a welcoming and supportive environment.
No writing experience is necessary. Whether you've written for years or are picking up a pen for the first time, Pages in Motion is a place where every voice is valued and every story matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a writer to participate?
Not at all! Pages in Motion is designed for everyone, whether you've been writing for years or have never picked up a journal. The focus is on self-expression, creativity, and connection—not grammar or perfect writing.
Who can participate?
Pages in Motion is open to individuals living with Parkinson's disease. Each cohort is intentionally kept small to create a supportive, welcoming environment where participants can connect and share at their own comfort level.
Parkinsons Community is welcome to bring their caregiver for assistance and their is welcome to participate!
What types of writing will we do?
Participants will explore a variety of writing styles, including journaling, storytelling, memoir writing, poetry, personal reflection, and guided creative writing prompts. Every session offers something new, and there is no "right" way to write.
Will I have to read my writing out loud?
No. Sharing is always optional. Participants are encouraged to share if they feel comfortable, but there is never any pressure. Listening and supporting others is just as valuable.
What happens during a typical session?
Each 90-minute session includes gentle adaptive movement, guided writing activities, time for individual reflection, and optional group discussion. Every session is designed to foster creativity, confidence, and meaningful connection.
Is there a cost to Pages in Motion?
No, like all of NPI's programming, Pages in Motion is completely free of cost to all Parkinson's community members.
