Bill Renfrew BIO

Bill has played rock 'n' roll, blues and country guitar for much of his career, especially around the Washington DC area. Most notably Bill played with lots of 60s groups who came through Washington on reunion tours, playing guitar for Mary Wells, the Shirelles, the Marvelettes, Sam and Dave, and numerous others including Bo Diddley (see photo above -- Bill is playing with Bo at the 930 Club in Washington, DC).

Bill moved to Nashville in 1996 to pursue songwriting which he did through 2016. During that time, Bill got numerous song cuts with independent artists while also running Bombshelter Recording Studio out of his home. He produced and recorded 7 albums for artists who came to Nashville from places as far away as England and British Columbia, as well as hundreds of demos for local songwriters and singers. During that time he performed with many local acts, including backing Mandy Barnett live.

In 2015 Bill became interested in jazz and fell in love with it. Bill started singing and playing jazz and he now has the Bill Renfrew Trio and Quartet to keep him busy performing around Nashville. He has played at the Smyrna Police, Fire and Rescue Christmas party two years in a row, as well as at Paddle Dog and the Ko-Ko-Mo Club and Restaurant at Westhaven in Franklin, Tennessee, as well as numerous private parties in the Nashville and Franklin area. Bill has a ministry called Jazzspice where he takes his band into Hospice facilities and plays for patients. He also ministers to the blind through his music, performing concerts for them in their homes.
