Painted in white (2022)

The white color, declined in all traces, becomes a metaphor of purity, end of life and desolation

Cryptic and rarefied texts leave wide freedom of interpretation, but you can feel a red thread connecting vampires, arcane rituals and winter landscapes ; a world suspended between noir romanticism and introspection.

The production, purposely minimal, enhances empty spaces and reverberations, creating an immersive atmosphere.

Mater Lucerna (2023)

Mater Lucerna is the second album by The Birch, released on 9 June 2023. This work is distinguished by a more melodic approach, while maintaining the gothic aesthetic and dark atmospheres that characterize the artist .

Among the songs stands out Carmilla, inspired by the homonymous novel by Sheridan Le Fanu of 1872, one of the first literary works to deal with the theme of female vampirism. The song pays homage to the figure of the vampire Carmilla, exploring its seductive and disturbing nuances through a sound that blends elements of gothic rock and alternatives .

Together with Shalken, another piece inspired by a story by Le Fanu, Carmilla testifies to The Birch’s interest in gothic literature and its influence on his compositions.

The album as a whole offers a sound journey between candles that illuminate nocturnal landscapes and spectral presences, maintaining a balance between refined melodies and dark atmospheres.

Opaque noir (2025)

Opaque Noir, the latest work by The Birch, is an album that moves with elegance between cinematic sounds, ambient and post-rock. From the first track, a strong visual component is perceived: each track seems to be built as a scene, with stratified arrangements that evoke nocturnal landscapes, introspection and emotional tension.

The cinematic influences are clear, not only in the titles and atmospheres, but also in the narrative structure of the songs, which often develop with hypnotic slowness and then explode into dramatic climaxes. Melancholy strings, deep synths and reverberating guitars merge into a dense and evocative sound, reminiscent of film noir or psychological thriller soundtracks.

The Birch demonstrates a remarkable compositional maturity, managing to maintain stylistic coherence without falling into repetitiveness. Opaque Noir is a sound journey that captures the listener and immerses him in a twilight world, suspended between dream and anxiety.
