  • Actual Job Creation (Demand): The entire IT/Corporate sector creates or opens roughly 5 to 8 Lakh entry-level desk and tech jobs per year.

Every year, over 15 lakh tech-focused graduates fight for a maximum of 8 lakh entry-level system jobs.

Question 5: Based on this calculation, are these roughly 5 Crore people (currently working or willing to work) the specific demographic in the Artificial Intelligence “Danger Zone”?

Yes. The calculation perfectly isolates the AI Impact Zone.

The 100+ crore Indians working in agriculture, physical services, construction, and heavy industry are fundamentally shielded from Generative AI. The entire impact is concentrated on the ~5 Crore white-collar desk workers and the fresh graduates trying to join them.

This “Danger Zone” breaks down into three distinct realities:

  1. High Risk (Job Displacement): Routine, rule-based desk jobs (basic BPO, data entry, junior software testing, entry-level HR screening) will see headcount reductions. A team of 100 may shrink to 20 operators managing AI agents.

  2. Highest Danger (The Fresher Squeeze): College graduates face the most immediate threat. AI can now perform the preliminary “grunt work” (basic code, research, drafting) that companies historically used to train freshers. Consequently, the 5 to 8 Lakh available entry-level jobs will shrink, creating a severe bottleneck for the 15 Lakh annual tech graduates.

  3. Medium Risk (Job Transformation): For the majority of the 5 crore desk workers (mid-level engineers, marketers, analysts), the job will not disappear, but it will fundamentally change. The risk here is a “skills gap”—workers who do not use AI to augment their speed and output will be replaced by workers who do.
