Practice Aikido in Towcester
Come and join us and take a deep dive into this intriguing martial art. Aikido is a Japanese Martial Art created in the 1920s and means “The Way of Harmony of Spirit”.
The focus is on personal improvement by continuous practice, honing your skills and techniques. It's physical but there is no competition.
It's suitable for all ages but if you're a complete beginner you'll get loads of support. We love it!
Regular training focuses on Taijutsu (throws and locks) and weapons practice (Aiki Jo and Aiki Ken).
The Three Pillars of Progress

Taijutsu
Aikido is mostly known for its powerful, effortless, dynamic and flowing throwing techniques. Beautiful to watch, this does not come easy and requires a lot of training and practice.
However, before you can flow you will have to be able to walk. Our practice focuses on developing strong & precise basic techniques, using correct posture and body movement.

Weapons Practice
Weapons practice is an important aspect of our training. Not every club practices the solo Katas (forms or patterns) and partner exercises, but we consider this to be an essential element of learning Aikido. It teaches you correct posture, body movement, distance and timing.

Seminars
Personal development is a key element of Aikido. We strongly believe that you should train and practice with as many people as you can. Have an open mind and learn from your experiences. Going to seminars gives you the opportunity to learn from some very respected teachers and train with people from other clubs.
