Storytelling - it's entrancing
What's this all about?
It started with Timber Tam. That's the character I built stories around when I was a toddler. It was a response, I guess, to the captivating bedtime stories my parents entranced me with. I have always enjoyed reading, writing, listening to and telling stories.
My aim is to share with you some of my stories and experiences.
Who is Keith Warburton?
It wasn't until retirement hit that I properly got back to storytelling. I've been a columnist in trade magazines and for several years I was a paid columnist in a countryside sports magazine. I subsequently realised these columns were in effect short stories. I then started developing short fictions. Short stories are great, if only because they usually have an identifiable beginning, middle and end. In many ways poems are the ultimate short story, making their point with economy of words.
Why Underdesk?
Over the years I have read my work to small groups and have enjoyed a good reception and always the question " have you published?" But my perception is that there'd be limited consumer demand for my collections, therefore of very limited interest to conventional publishers. So I decided to self-publish and do on demand printing. I needed a publisher brand and Underdesk was available and seemed a bit of fun. I'm still not sure whether I should drop the brand and do everyting under my own name. What do you think?
