The World Vegan Day Diamond Jubilee
In 2004, The Vegan Society celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with a special awards ceremony, held at a London hotel, marking a shift from simply sending certificates to an annual awards event. This event was part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which also included a vegan book launch, "Vegan" by Hamlyn.
The first awards ceremony was a significant event, with winners recognized in various categories.

The Diamond Jubilee Vegan awards ceremony, held at the Tower of London hotel, nr Savage Gardens, replaced the previous practice of simply sending certificates to winners, signifying a more elaborate recognition of achievements within the vegan community. The event marked a turning point in how The Vegan Society acknowledged and celebrated contributions to the vegan movement.
The event was attended by Dale Vince of Ecotricity, Alpro, The Food and Drink Federation, Redwoods (later V-Bites), various movers and shakers of the Vegan World and a Beatles Tribute band.
There was also an interactive Vegan art installation at the The Frieze Art Fair 2004 by vegan Artist Geoff Francis.
Laurence Main, walking guide and Druid celebrated the 2004 Diamond Jubilee of the Vegan Society by walking 1404 miles in 95 days from Callanish stone Circle (Isle of Lewis) to London via Carn Ingli and St David's, backpacking and visiting many holy hills (e.g Schiehallion) and stone circles such as Long Meg.
