Born on 3 November 1956 in Kameelrivier B, Mpumalanga, Sophie Msoziswa “NoSinky” Mahlangu has dedicated her life to preserving, teaching and evolving the artistic traditions of the Ndzundza Ndebele people. A master beadworker, painter, singer, performer, educator and cultural entrepreneur, Gogo Sophie represents a generation of artists who have transformed indigenous knowledge into a powerful expression of identity, creativity and cultural pride. Through her work, she celebrates the distinctive Ndebele aesthetic while ensuring that traditional artistry remains relevant in contemporary society. An Art Learned at Her Mother’s Knee, for Sophie, beadwork began at home. Her earliest teacher was her mother, whom she remembers as a highly skilled beadworker. As a young girl, Sophie would sit beside her mother, carefully observing how she arranged her needle, thread and beads. Those childhood observations became the foundation of an extraordinary artistic journey. What began as a child playing with loose beads developed into a lifelong mastery of traditional Ndebele beadwork. As Sophie gained confidence and experience, she began creating her own adornments and traditional ceremonial attire, eventually establishing herself as one of the respected custodians of Ndzundza Ndebele artistic heritage, Preserving Culture Through Creativity Sophie’s artistic practice extends far beyond beadwork. She is also an accomplished Ndebele painter and mural artist whose work has travelled beyond South Africa. She has undertaken mural commissions in Spain and Italy, while her local artistic footprint includes murals at venues such as KwaMhlanga Police Station, Kagiso Water Park, Kghodwana Cultural Village, the Embassy of France and Mpumalanga University, among others. Her art demonstrates the ability of indigenous design to exist comfortably in both traditional and contemporary spaces. for Sophie, every bead, colour, pattern and painting carries a connection to history and identity.

The Rand Show Music Festival will once again feature a dynamic line-up of artists, dancers and performers, delivering live entertainment throughout the day. For thrill-seekers, motorsport drifting delivers a full-sensory spectacle as professional drivers showcase precision and power in live demonstrations, free for spectators to enjoy.
The Big Bounce – a rugby field size jumping castle adventure - brings playful energy to the showgrounds, inviting both kids and adults to jump in and join the fun at no extra cost.

On Wednesday, 21 October 2025, the halls of Ibhongo High School in Dlamini 2, Soweto were filled with pride, celebration, and renewed determination as the Class of 1992 alumni hosted the prestigious Matric Excellence Awards Ceremony. The highlight of the occasion was the presence of Rear Admiral Prince Tshabalala, who returned to his roots to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Parents, teachers, and learners gathered in unity to honor the academic achievements of the Grade 12 Class of 2025. The atmosphere was electric, a powerful blend of celebration and anticipation as learners prepare to take their final steps toward the National Senior Certificate examinations. Taking to the podium, Rear Admiral Tshabalala delivered a deeply personal and stirring address. Speaking not only as a decorated naval leader but as a proud son of Dlamini 2, he reminded learners that greatness is not accidental, it is intentional.
