Jessica Bonner, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Bonner is a licensed practicing clinical professional for over 30 years with extensive experience in adult aphasia and apraxia rehabilitation. Currently Professor Emeritus status at Governors State University, University Park, IL following 24 years of service in an accredited Masters Degree Communication Sciences and Disorders program. Experience includes 18 years teaching courses in Adult Neurogenic Disorders Adult/Pediatric Swallowing Disorders, and Neuroanatomy and Physiology and six years as Department Chair for graduate and undergraduate programs in speech-language pathology. 

Dr. Bonner created an interdisciplinary stroke support group at Governors State University where faculty and students from Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology programs participate. The group is committed to empowering and helping survivors of stroke find solutions to challenges faced whether related to communication/cognitive, physical, or activities of daily living. Dr. Bonner's current focus is awareness and prevention of stroke; her goal is to help others understand signs/symptoms to help prevent an initial or second stroke.

Dr. Bonner holds a Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She received a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Howard University, Washington, DC, and an undergraduate degree in the same field from Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist.
