Rules and Legal

By participating in the RCC's Pitch Competition (the “Challenge”), including by submitting a Submission, each participant formally accepts these Rules.

Sponsor

The sponsor for the Challenge is Mozilla Corporation, 149 New Montgomery Street, 4th floor, San Francisco, CA 94105 (the “Sponsor”).

Rules of the Contest

How to Enter

To enter, you must attend the live Case Competition Event (the “Event”) on October 18, 2025.

Pitch Competition teams are expected to produce one of the following submissions:

  • TikTok-style video

  • Photo series

  • Micro-campaign concept

Each of the above are a submission. Submissions should highlight Mozilla/Firefox values and inspire peers to try Firefox.

Recommended length for videos: 15–60 seconds.

Teams (at least 2 people) will have 50-60 minutes to ideate then will use the remaining time to create their product including filming, photo taking and editing. Finally the submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges, including sponsored representatives (the "judges") and a winner will be selected based on the judging criteria listed below. Immediately following the judging block the winning teams will be announced.

No requirement to publish. It is not a requirement that any Participant, including any Winner, publish or otherwise make public their Submission, other than to present the Submission at the Event.

Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any Submission not in compliance with these Rules or which includes material that is indecent, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, slanderous, libelous, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate as determined by Sponsor in its absolute discretion. Each Submission must also comply with any terms or requirements on the Challenge Site.

Judging Criteria

Creativity & Originality

  • Is the idea fresh, engaging, and tailored to resonate with Gen Z?

  • Does it show innovative use of short-form content formats (TikTok, photo series, micro-campaign)?

Alignment with Mozilla & Firefox Values

  • Does the campaign authentically reflect Mozilla’s values (openness, agency, privacy, responsible tech)?

  • Is the messaging consistent with Firefox’s brand guidelines?

Impact & Reach Potential

  • Does the content have the potential to spark peer-to-peer conversations and drive students to try Firefox?

  • Could it perform well if shared on Mozilla’s official social media channels?

Presentation & Delivery

  • Was the live pitch clear, confident, and compelling?

  • Did the team effectively explain their creative choices and demonstrate the campaign’s value?

The Judges will select the following winners:

·       First place

·       Second place

·       Third place

All decisions of the Judges are final, non-appealable and binding. Potential winners must comply with all Rules. Winning is contingent upon verification of eligibility and compliance with all requirements in these Rules.

Winners will be announced at the Event. Members of winning Teams may be required to sign and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release and/or a publicity release where permitted by law, as well as provide information necessary for compliance with any applicable tax laws. Failure to comply may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner

Teams must agree to and designate one person as the agent of the Team to accept the prize on behalf of the Team. Team members must determine how to divide prizes among themselves. Sponsor will not resolve disputes among Team members as to distribution of prize money.

The winners are solely responsible for the payment of any taxes that may arise as a result of acceptance of a prize, and all other expenses or costs relating to the prize.

Prizes

One Team will be selected the First Place Winner and receive US$500. Another Team will be selected as Second Place Winner and receive US$300. A third Team will be selected Third Place Winner and will receive US$200. Teams must agree to and designate one person as the agent of the Team to accept the prize on behalf of the Team. Team members must determine how to divide prizes among themselves. Sponsor will not resolve disputes among Team members as to distribution of prize money. The aggregate retail value of all the prize(s) is approximately US$1000.

Who Can Participate

In order to be eligible to enter students must be present on October 18th. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY MONEY IS NECESSARY TO ENTER.  A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.  This is a contest of skill.  Odds of winning the Challenge depend on the number and quality of eligible submissions received.


Participation is open to teams of at least two members. All Participants must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in their places of residence if it is higher than 18) and may be a member of more than one Team. The following individuals are ineligible to participate in the Challenge:

●      Mozilla employees;

●      Mozilla contractors;

●      Challenge judges;

●      Families of and persons living in the same household as Mozilla employees, contractors, and Challenge judges; and

●      Individuals listed on the U.S. Treasury Department’s Specially Designated Nationals List or who reside in countries or regions subject to a U.S. embargo or where the Challenge would be prohibited or restricted by law.

Sponsor, at its sole discretion, shall determine eligibility of any Participant, Team, or organization, and may disqualify anyone at any time for any reason. Additionally, Sponsor shall have the sole discretion to identify all Participants in the event of a dispute.

Participants acknowledge that they understand that they are not employees of Mozilla Corporation, its parent, or any of their direct or indirect subsidiaries or affiliated companies. To avoid doubt, no application, acceptance, award, or other action related to the Challenge should be construed as employment by Mozilla Corporation, its parent, or any of their direct or indirect subsidiaries or affiliated companies.

Recording and Publicity Grant

Sponsor or its partners may record all or part of the Event. By participating in the Event, each Participant gives permission to Sponsor and its representatives, parent, affiliates, agents, and employees to observe and record their image, voice, and activities during the Event through photographs, videos, audio recordings or any other method of recording (“Recording”). Sponsor may distribute the Recording (alone or as part of a larger work) online via websites, blogs, and social media (e.g. Sponsor websites, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook) or in other mediums, and may be used for instructional or promotional purposes in connection with Sponsor and its mission (the “Purpose”). Each Participant grants to Sponsor (a) the exclusive, perpetual, sublicensable right, but not the obligation, to use and reuse the Recording for the Purpose by any and all methods and means, whether now known or hereafter devised, in any and all media, throughout the world without limitation; and (b) the right to use all or part of your name, voice, image, likeness and any information that you provide in the Recording or any materials you submit to Sponsor or Sponsor’s representatives in connection with the Recording for the Purpose by any and all methods and means, whether now known or hereafter devised, in any and all media, throughout the world without limitation.

All Participants grant permission to Sponsor and its authorized representatives to use their names, city and state or province and country of residence, photograph and/or other likeness, voice, and basic biographical information for promotional purposes without further compensation, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, in perpetuity, without notice, consideration, review or approval.

Legal Rights

a. Participant Certification of Rights in Submission: By entering a Submission, each Team member represents and warrants that: (i) he/she is able to comply with these Rules and that the Submission is not subject to any conflicting obligations that would prevent or interfere with compliance with these Rules; (ii) the Submission does not make unauthorized use of or violate in any way any rights of any third party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or rights of publicity; and (iii) no one else’s permission is required for you to make your Submission in this Challenge or to use and share your Submission with Mozilla and others as contemplated under these Rules. Without limiting the foregoing, each Team member represents and warrants that he/she has complied with any requirements of his/her employer, if applicable, to allow participation in this Challenge, including but not limited to making your Submission and accepting any prize you may receive.

b. Usage Rights in Submissions: Team members retain all ownership rights in their Submission. Each Participant hereby grants Sponsor an unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicenseable license to reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, display, broadcast or otherwise use the Submission (including without limitation any recording of the Submission during the Event), for any purpose, including but not limited to promotional materials related to the Challenge and Mozilla. To the extent allowed by applicable law, each Participant waives any “moral rights” relating to the Submission, consents to their publication in any manner which might otherwise be deemed to constitute a violation of any applicable moral rights, and further agrees that Sponsor may use (or not use) his or her name, likeness, photo, and/or geographical and biographical information in connection with the Submission.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AGREE TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS MOZILLA CORPORATION AND ITS RESPECTIVE PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND JUDGES FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE, LOSS OR DELAY (INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE) RESULTING IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM PARTICIPATION IN THIS CHALLENGE, TRAVEL TO, PREPARATION FOR, OR PARTICIPATION IN ANY CHALLENGE-RELATED ACTIVITY, OR ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, MISUSE OR USE OF ANY PRIZE.

Governing Law

The Challenge and the rights and obligations of all Participants and Submissions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California. The California courts (state and federal) have sole jurisdiction of any controversies regarding the Challenge, and you agree to waive any objections to jurisdiction and venue in those courts and hereby submit to the jurisdiction of those courts. Should any provision of these Rules be held to be void, invalid, unenforceable, or illegal by a proper legal authority, the validity and enforceability of the other provisions shall not be affected.

15. Privacy

To administer the Challenge we may receive personal information from Teams including names, locations, phone numbers, and emails. We handle this information as described in these Terms and the Mozilla Privacy Policy. Our Websites, Communications & Cookies Privacy Notice describes information we receive when you visit our websites. You may opt-out of communications from us if you no longer wish to participate in the Challenge.

Confidentiality

Submissions will be shared with Judges and Sponsor staff, and portions of Submissions may be reproduced elsewhere in connection with the Challenge, such as on the Challenge Site and in related publicity materials. You should not disclose any information in your Submission that is proprietary or confidential. No confidential relationship is established between you and Sponsor in connection with your Submission.

No Obligation

Each Participant acknowledges that other Teams may submit similar Submissions and that they, or Sponsor, may already be considering or developing, or may subsequently consider or develop independent of the Challenge, materials that are related or similar to yours. Each Participant acknowledges that this does not create in Mozilla or others any obligation or liability to him or her.
