The Need for Research
Over the years, there has been an estimated $30 billion investment in educational technology. However, based on my research and the evidence ive privided its clear that screens do not equal better learning standards or performance. And while tools like the SAMR model provide helpful outlines for technical integration in the classroom. It's hard for teachers to mitigate the risk that technology always creates, a risk of cognitive offloading and lower conceptual understanding.
Which is why I believe that deeper research is necessary to establish a balanced nd purpsful integration of technology in the traditional classroom while still using active learning methods. I believe that through further research, we can prevent the cognitive decline amongst students as well as digital fatigue. If we move towards this balance, future educators like myself can foster a classroom environment in which we prioritize cognitive improvement and authentic student engagement/ passion.
