Collapse & dismantle of the dry-stone wall.

Discovery of the collapsing wall.

After purchasing the piece of land in December 2004 we pruned back the overgrown ivy along the front boundary wall. This revealed that the wall was collapsing.

Derbyshire County council, Amber valley Borough Council & Quarndon Parish Council were all informed about the imminent collapse of the wall into Church Road and were asked whether they could help?

Derbyshire County Council and Amber Valley Borough Council never replied,

Quarndon Parish Council replied ...

... "I have had confirmation from the Parish Council that we are not responsible for any walls in the parish.
Kindest Regards
Parish Clerk"

I decided my only option was to hire a 'man-with-a-digger' to dismantle the wall, make the area safe and store the sandstone blocks!

This is why the wall is in it's current condition
