A Story of Hope and Resilience 'Coloring Outside The Lines'

AVAILABLE FOR FREE ON SPOTIFY OR YOUR PODCAST PLATFORM SOON WHERE COSTS VARIES!!

The Capital Perspective Podcast Welcomes Katie & Chris Bowick As They Talk About Their Book 'Coloring Outside The Lines' This Should Be If Not One Of Our Best Episodes Yet, As Episode #2 - Season #3.

We’re Katie and Chris Bowick, a married couple and co-authors who decided to share the story we once kept hidden.

From the outside, our life looked steady. We had growing careers, a business of our own, and the kind of partnership people assumed was unshakable. What most people did not see were the struggles with addiction, codependency, and broken trust that nearly pulled us apart.

I’m Katie. I’m a creative at heart, an aunt, a snowboarder, and someone who finds comfort in books, art, and my faith. The little everyday moments, the kind you might overlook, are where I find the most beauty and peace.

I’m Chris. For years I measured my worth by performance and success. I was a top-producing insurance agent, always chasing the next achievement. Over time I learned that what matters more is honesty, growth, and integrity, especially when life is hardest.

Together, we wrote Coloring Outside the Lines: A Love Story in the Gray of Addiction, Recovery & Redemption because when we were in the middle of it all, we could not find a story that felt like ours. We wanted to create something real. Something honest and hopeful, even in the messiness.

This is our story. Our hope is that in reading it, you find pieces of your own and know you are not alone.

COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES

AVAILABLE AT AMAZON & ON THE WEB

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING ABOUT Coloring Outside the Lines:

“This book offers a deeply human look at the journey through addiction and recovery, not just as an individual struggle but as something that profoundly shapes a partnership. Told from both a husband’s and wife’s perspectives, it reveals the courage it takes to stay open, honest, and connected in the face of hardship. Their willingness to share both sides of the experience brings an authenticity and hope that many will find meaningful.”—Henry J.

“Honest, raw, and full of heart!Coloring Outside The Lines divesdeep into addiction and forgiveness, shining light on pain, healing, and resilience. It’s a story that will undoubtedly help others find their way through similar challenges.”—Jessica C.

“Coloring Outside the Linesis a beautiful story of the resilience of true love. While reading this book, it felt so powerful to walk with Katie and Chris through the most vulnerable time in their lives. Their love is rare, but their struggles are unfortunately common. And their willingness to share this story will undoubtedly save lives.”—Izabela O.

Coloring Outside the Linesis so much more than another book about addiction. Told in dual voices, it gives a true glimpse into what life can look like, both as an addict and as the loved one. Chris and Katie invite you into their story with vulnerable honesty, raw emotion, and heartbreaking choices.”—Ashley P.

AUTHOR KATIE BOWICK

AVAILABLE ON AMAZON & THE WEB

Katie Bowick was born in Colorado and is a proud University of Colorado graduate with a dynamic background in art sales, marketing, private banking, and software sales. In 2021, she and her husband founded an independent insurance agency in Cherry Creek, called Val Moritz Insurance Group, where they combine their entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for serving their community.

When she’s not building client relationships, you’ll find her embracing everything Colorado has to offer—snowboarding, golfing, music, hiking, or sharing a great meal with family and friends. She especially treasures time with her niece and nephew and her pit bull mix, Lexi, who is the heart of their home. An avid reader and music lover, she lives for meaningful moments surrounded by the people and places she loves most.

Inspired by their own journey, Chris and Katie Bowick founded Love Through The Gray, a space for honest conversations, community support, and helpful resources to help others navigate the complexities of love, healing, and rebuilding during life’s hardest chapters.

AUTHOR CHRIS BOWICK

AVAILABLE ON AMAZON & THE WEB

Chris Bowick is an entrepreneur, writer, and survivor of opioid addiction whose journey through relapse, detox centers, hospitalizations, and the long process of rebuilding his life forms the heart of Coloring Outside the Lines. Known for his humor, sharp self-awareness, and straight-to-the-point honesty, Chris tells the truth about addiction in a way that removes the shame, stereotypes, and villain label often placed on people who are struggling.

Before writing, Chris spent years building businesses in Colorado, working in both the corporate and entrepreneurial world. His achievements were easy to see, but the unhealed pain underneath those successes went unseen for years until addiction took over his health, his relationships, and the life he thought he had under control.

Recovery pulled Chris through the darkest seasons of his life and taught him how to rebuild with integrity, faith, humility, and patience. Through traditional treatment, alternative medicine, therapy, and a willingness to face his own truth, he found a way forward. His story is for anyone who believes recovery is not one-size-fits-all.

Chris lives in Denver with his wife Katie and their dog Lexi. Together, they are the authors of Coloring Outside the Lines, a memoir that brings both sides of addiction into the light.
